Why I created the Care Needs Checklist
Hi, I’m Rahul Chhapwale, a care home owner with over a decade of experience, caring for the elderly. My wife and I own the Downsvale Nursing Home and the Surrey Downs Homecare in Dorking, Surrey, UK. Deepa, my wife, is a qualified Health Psychologist and the CQC Registered manager at Downsvale Nursing Home and Surrey Downs Homecare.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of meeting many families on their journey to finding the right care for their loved ones. Putting someone into care is a difficult decision and we have come up with the checklist to ensure you have considered all the relevant factors when putting someone into care. When you complete the checklist, you will receive a free report with the recommended level of care- low, medium or high which can inform your decision on the right care setting for your loved ones.
In this video Pauline talks about her experience before and after putting her husband into care at the Downsvale Nursing home (sister service of Surrey Downs Homecare), the emotions she faced, why putting her husband into care freed her to become a wife again

Very caring, communicative staff, always there to assist in a cheery way. They are excellent at conversing with the client who has hearing and mobility difficulties. Very reliable attendance. Very good supervision to enable the client to maintain their independence to wash and dress themselves.
